The United Kingdom Government has confirmed that adults aged 75 and above, immunosuppressed people aged six months and older, and residents of care homes for older adults will be eligible for its spring 2027 COVID-19 vaccination programme.
The Department of Health and Social Care announced the decision in a statement published on Friday, October 30, 2026, following the government’s acceptance of advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation.
The JCVI is an independent expert committee that advises the government on vaccination policy.
Under the spring 2027 programme, COVID-19 vaccines will be offered to adults aged 75 and above, people aged six months and older who are immunosuppressed, and all residents of care homes for older adults.
The department said the eligible groups were the same as those covered by previous spring COVID-19 vaccination programmes.

The Minister of State for Public Health and Patient Safety, Dame Diana Johnson, said older adults and immunosuppressed people remained at higher risk of serious outcomes from COVID-19.
“Following the expert advice of JCVI, we will offer vaccinations to those at the highest risk in spring 2027,” she said.
Johnson encouraged eligible people to take up the vaccination offer, describing vaccination as the best way to protect against serious illness.
“Getting vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself from serious illness and I encourage everyone eligible to take up the offer,” she added.
The government said it remained committed to protecting people most vulnerable to serious outcomes from COVID-19 through vaccination, guided by the independent committee’s advice.
