DPR Korea secured third place at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2026 after producing a dominant 6–0 victory over Brazil in the bronze medal match on Saturday.
The defending champions delivered an emphatic performance at the Mohammed VI Football Complex – Pitch 2 in Rabat, with six different moments of attacking brilliance helping them finish their campaign on a high.
DPR Korea took the lead in the 12th minute when Kim Won-sim reacted quickest after Ri Ye-rim’s effort was blocked, firing home her seventh goal of the tournament.
The two-time reigning champions continued to dictate proceedings and doubled their advantage just before half-time. Yu Jong-hyang broke through the Brazilian defence before setting up Ri Ui-gyong, who produced a superb left-footed finish into the top-right corner in the 44th minute.
DPR Korea maintained their attacking intensity after the restart, with Yu once again providing the creative spark. The No. 10 squared the ball for Ri Ye-rim, who calmly slotted home in the 61st minute to make it 3–0.
Ri Ui-gyong then completed her brace in the 71st minute, skipping past a Brazilian challenge before unleashing a powerful strike into the bottom corner.
Yu Jong-hyang capped an impressive individual display by getting on the scoresheet in the 86th minute, before Ri Kyong-im added a sixth goal just a minute later to complete Brazil’s humiliation.
Yu was deservedly named Player of the Match after contributing two assists and a goal in an outstanding performance.
The victory ensured DPR Korea finished third in Morocco, while Brazil had to settle for fourth place for the second consecutive edition of the competition.
Beyond securing a place on the podium, DPR Korea also finished the tournament with an extraordinary 29 goals, breaking the previous record for the most goals scored by a team in a single edition, set by the United States earlier in the competition.
It was a fitting conclusion to another impressive campaign from DPR Korea, who demonstrated their attacking strength and championship pedigree throughout the tournament.
