A 38-year-old man accused of secretly filming a woman passenger on Bengaluru’s Namma Metro was questioned by the Bengaluru police, who have seized his mobile phone for forensic examination.
According to the police, the accused, Santosh, denied the allegations and recorded his statement with the Kadugodi police on October 29. The police said that Santosh resides in Nagarabhavi and travels to Whitefield, where he works at a private company. The alleged filming took place near Pattandur Agrahara Metro Station. The police have conducted mahazar at the metro station.
A police officer investigating the case told The Hindu that the accused had obtained anticipatory bail but had been directed by the magistrate to cooperate with the investigation.
“We questioned him and asked about the video, and he showed us that there was no such video on his mobile phone. We will summon him again once the reports arrive,” the officer said.
The case came to light after the woman took to social media to recount the incident. Subsequently, a complaint was lodged. The accused has been booked under Section 78 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with stalking.
