The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials arrested a District Youth and Sports Officer (DYSO) and a contract-based typist in Mahabubnagar on Thursday (November 5) for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹1 lakh to process and approve pending catering bills.

The accused were identified as Jakku Rajasekhar Reddy, a DYSO, and Gorre Umesh, a contract-based typist working in his office in Mahabubnagar.

According to the ACB, the duo demanded ₹1 lakh from a complainant for processing and approving pending catering bills and arranging the release of a cheque for ₹3.10 lakh towards the catering bill for August 2026. The bill pertained to the supply of food to sportspersons staying at the Volleyball Hostel of the Sports Authority of Telangana (SATG), Mahabubnagar.

The ACB recovered the ₹1 lakh bribe amount from Reddy’s possession at his instance. He had accepted the money on his own behalf and on behalf of Umesh, as per their prior understanding to share the bribe amount, the agency said. The ACB said the accused had abused their official positions to obtain undue advantage by demanding and accepting the bribe.

Both accused were arrested and would be produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases in Nampally for judicial remand. The case is under investigation. The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.
