SEOUL, Oct. 30 (Yonhap) -- The South Korean won strengthened against the U.S. dollar Friday, aided by dollar sales by local exporters.
The won was quoted at 1,334.3 won per dollar at 3:30 p.m., up 2.5 won from the close of the previous stock trading session.
At one point in afternoon trading, the won advanced to a high of 1,333.6 won per dollar.
On global currency markets, the dollar remained weak, mainly due to a decline in U.S. Treasury yields and higher oil prices.
Foreign investors sold a net 1.62 trillion won (US$1.2 billion) worth of local shares during the latest regular stock trading session, with the benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index dipping 3.48 percent to close at 5,730.74.
