Paramount‘s reimagining of G.I. Joe under director Danny McBride and starring Bradley Cooper as Duke will hit theaters on Oct. 20, 2028.
As we previously told you McBride wrote the screenplay with Jeff Fradley and John Carcieri. The plot is being kept in a high security location much like the G.I. Joe team’s base. The pic is produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, and Zev Foreman for Hasbro Entertainment.
While more Warner Bros and Paramount release date changes are expected, currently G.I. Joe is scheduled ahead of Nov. 3 when two big theatrical releases are happening from the storied studios: Paramount’s untitled Duffer Brothers movie and Warner Bros Animation’s The Lunar Chronicles.
Meanwhile Blumhouse Atomic’s new Paranormal Activity movie is shifting from May 21, 2027 to Oct. 22 next year, which has always been a rich launchpad for a horror movie before Thanksgiving. Ian Tuason is directing with Chase Yi, Sonia Mena and Maya Da Costa starring.
Oren Peli will produce for Solana Films, with James Wan and Jason Blum producing for Blumhouse Atomic. Michael Clear and Judson Scott will executive produce for Blumhouse Atomic, and Alayna Glasthal will oversee the project for the company. Steven Schneider will executive produce for Room 101, Inc. Dan Slater and Cody Calahan are also executive producers.
The film will be financed and produced jointly by Paramount Pictures and Blumhouse Atomic, with Paramount handling worldwide distribution. The Paranormal Activity franchise through seven features counts more than $900M at the global box office.
