Brandon Boyd, the frontman of rock band Incubus, is making his debut as a feature scoring composer.

The vocalist and songwriter has teamed up with indie musician and composer Gregory Rogove to compose the score for Unknown Company, an indie World War Two sci-fi thriller starring The Walking Dead actor Ross Marquand that is now in post-production.

Directed by Vincent Talenti (Transformers: War for Cybertron) and written by Gavin Hignight (Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance), Unknown Company follows a small unit of American soldiers dispatched behind enemy lines in the final days of World War II to recover the wreckage of an unidentified object. What begins as a military mission becomes a confrontation with something beyond their understanding, testing the soldiers’ loyalty to one another and their sense of what is real.

On top of Marquand, who is also known for his voice work in Invincible and X-Men ’97 (he’s the voice of Professor X and Apocalypse), the ensemble also includes Hugh Scott (Deadpool), Zak Steiner (Euphoria), Mace Coronel (That ’90s Show) and Kevin Brooks (Glowzies), with Sarah Hay (Flesh and Bone) and Nolan North (Uncharted).

Talenti is producing the feature alongside Eva Ceja, Dylan Palley and Matt Ryan. Bret Rudnick serves as executive producer.

“I had such a great time doing this film score with my ol’ pal Greg Rogove,” said Boyd in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “He and I had made music together in the past and after seeing a rough cut of Unknown Company I knew that this would be the perfect movie – and Greg the perfect partner – to take that leap into writing music for film. I’m a huge horror and sci-fi fan and I immediately felt intuitions about the sounds and moods that needed to accompany this picture. The film is creepy, beautiful and dark and we composed music that meets the film there.”

Boyd gained a rock star following as one of the founders of Incubus, the popular 1990s and early 2000s band that found success with hits such as “Drive,” “Wish You Were Here” and “Pardon Me.” Boyd also released several solo albums.
