We have a date for the Season 2 premiere of Blue Eye Samurai. The second season of the popular adult animated series will launch on January 19, 2027, more than three years after Season 1 aired in 2023.

Netflix announced in August that it had renewed the series for a third and final season, set for premiere in 2028.

Maya Erskine returns to star as Mizu, with new cast Jonathan Pryce, Joel Kim Booster and Sherry Cola.

Per the logline, in Season 2, Mizu’s (Erskine) bloody quest continues in London, where she faces new friends, old foes, and her own demons. In Japan, Akemi (Brenda Song) and Taigen (Darren Barnet) navigate Edo Castle under a dangerous new Shogun, while Ringo (Masi Oka) searches for new purpose.

Created by husband-and-wife duo Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, Blue Eye Samurai follows mixed-race Japanese warrior Mizu’s (Erskine) as she seeks vengeance against four white men, including her father, who remained illegally in Japan after the Tokugawa shogunate closed its borders.

The show has won four Creative Arts Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Animated Program for Season 1. It also scored six Annie Awards on six nominations, all for its first season.

Green and Noizumi serve as creators, executive producers and writers. Blue Spirit is the animation studio.
