A 44-year-old man has been arrested after a string of burglaries which has been infuriating residents in a small town north of Waihi.
Police sergeant Cameron Young said in the past week nine burglaries had been reported in the town of Whiritoa.
"Whiritoa is a small community, and they understandably became increasingly frustrated with these incidents."
He said after a search warrant at an home in the town, police found "a significant amount of alleged stolen property" and took a man into custody.
"We acknowledge these recent incidents would have been incredibly unsettling for the Whitiroa community, and we hope this arrest brings reassurance that we work hard to hold offenders to account."
The man was due to appear in Hamilton District Court on Monday, charged with burglary and breach of bail.
Young said police were still making inquiries and had not ruled out further charges.
