A body had been found in the search for missing kayaker at Waihi Beach on Coromandel Peninsula.
Police said the body is believed to be that of the man who was last seen on Tuesday though formal identification is yet to take place.
A search and rescue operation began at the beach after the man was reported missing about 5.40pm.
"The man, and kayak, were brought to shore with the help of the Royal New Zealand Navy and Coastguard Whangamata just before 3pm [Wednesday]."
