It was a celebration of love, culture and family heritage as Otutochi, popularly known as Tochi, daughter of late banking magnate Herbert Wigwe, traditionally married investment executive Wilson Aikhomu in Ikoyi, Lagos State.

The private ceremony brought together members of the Wigwe and Aikhomu families, as well as close friends and well-wishers. The occasion featured traditional marriage rites, elegant outfits and memorable moments.

One of the highlights was Tochi’s appearance in a beautifully embellished red-and-gold beaded traditional gown, complemented by a matching gele.

Holding a small golden cup, the bride participated in the traditional bride-search ritual, dancing and moving among the guests in search of her groom.

Tochi later changed into a blue off-shoulder dress, while Wilson complemented her in white traditional attire, accessorised with coral beads and a red cap. The couple shared affectionate moments throughout the celebration.

Another highlight was their dance together, after which they posed for photographs with family members and friends.

Beyond the fashion and festivities, the ceremony featured important traditional marriage rites, including the payment of the bride price, the signing of family documents and the formal handing over of the bride to her husband’s family.

The occasion, however, carried an emotional undertone, given the absence of Tochi’s parents, Herbert and Chizoba Wigwe, and her elder brother, Chizi, who died in a helicopter crash in California, United States, on February 9, 2024.
