The Progressive Old Students’ Association, Tede, Oyo State, is set to launch a N1.5bn development fund as part of activities marking the 50th anniversary of Progressive Secondary Grammar School, Tede, in November 2026.
The association disclosed this in a statement by its Interim National President, Dr Funso Folaranmi, and Interim National Secretary, Tajudeen Alabede, on Wednesday.
The association, known as POSAT, brings together alumni of Progressive Modern School, Tede, established in 1959, and Progressive Secondary Grammar School, which was upgraded to secondary school status in 1976.
The N1.5bn development fund is billed to be launched at the grand finale of the celebration, scheduled for Saturday, November 28, 2026.
The grand finale will attract not only alumni but also political, business and civic leaders, as well as other school stakeholders.
Highlights of the celebration will also include a symposium on the theme, “The Future of Community-Based Public Secondary Schools in Nigeria”; the unveiling of the Strategic School Development Initiative; and the presentation of Legacy Awards to pioneers who contributed to the school’s development.
The school, established by the government of the old Oyo State on November 22, 1976, will officially mark its golden jubilee on November 22, 2026, celebrating five decades of secondary education.
The celebration also coincides with the 67th anniversary of the school’s original founding.
Other events in the anniversary programme include special thanksgiving services, Community Engagement Day, Homecoming and School Community Day, Global Alumni Reunion Day and the grand finale.
