South Korean technology giant LG Electronics has said it is prioritising consumer needs and local lifestyles in developing home appliances for markets across Africa and the Middle East.
The company said differences in climate, culture, housing and daily living patterns across the two regions made it necessary to understand consumers’ specific requirements when designing and offering products.
The Marketing Communication Lead of LG Electronics’ Home Appliance Solution Company, Juhyun Liu, stated this in her address at the 2026 Middle East and Africa Press Tour in South Korea.
Liu said the company’s product development approach began with understanding how customers lived, what they needed and what mattered most to them.
“This is especially important in the Middle East and Africa, where countries, climates, homes, cultures, and ways of life are very diverse,” she said.
“That is why we always start by understanding our customers: how they live, what they need, and what matters most to them.”
She assured the 21 journalists drawn from Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan participating in the tour that they would have the opportunity to experience some of LG’s latest products designed for the region and gain insight into the considerations behind their development.
According to Liu, the company believes that successful technology must address everyday challenges and deliver practical benefits to consumers.

She said LG’s investments in research, engineering and manufacturing were intended to translate technological advances into products that consumers could use, trust and enjoy.
“Developing advanced technology is important. But what matters even more is turning that technology into products that people can use, trust, and enjoy every day,” she said.
Liu added that the company was also expanding its vision beyond conventional home appliances towards becoming a Smart Life Solution Company.
She said artificial intelligence would play a role in delivering more connected and personalised experiences, including through the company’s AI Home vision.
The initiative is aimed at enabling appliances and services to work together to simplify domestic routines and reduce the burden of everyday household tasks.
Liu said the company hoped its engagement with journalists from the Middle East and Africa would encourage an exchange of perspectives on its products, technologies and future direction.
She urged the participants to examine the products, ask questions and share their honest opinions during the tour.
The press tour was intended to give participating journalists a closer look at LG’s current offerings, technological capabilities and plans for future home solutions.
