Supporters of the Accord presidential candidate, Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, have set a target of six million votes across the North-West in the 2027 election, as they extend mobilisation into rural communities in Kano, Katsina, Kaduna and Jigawa states.

The Hashim Progressive Movement, which is coordinating the effort, is seeking to build grassroots support across the region’s seven states, including Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara, through community-level mobilisation and engagement with political stakeholders.

The target was disclosed by the movement’s coordinator in Jigawa State and Accord senatorial candidate, Aminu Aminu, at a stakeholders’ meeting in Dutse, where supporters discussed plans to coordinate campaign activities ahead of Hashim’s expected visit to the state.

Aminu expressed confidence in the candidate’s prospects in Jigawa, arguing that sustained grassroots mobilisation and cooperation among the various support groups would be critical to the campaign.

The meeting brought together representatives of different support groups to discuss how to organise the movement and expand its reach across the state.

In Jigawa, posters bearing Hashim’s image have reportedly appeared in Dutse and other parts of the state, while supporters are seeking to extend their activities beyond major towns into rural and underserved communities.

The movement’s outreach in Kano, Katsina, Kaduna and Jigawa is intended to establish contact with voters at the community level, particularly in areas its organisers say are often neglected by conventional campaign activities.

The six-million-vote target covers Jigawa, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara. However, the movement has not provided a breakdown of its expected votes in the individual states or disclosed the membership and organisational strength of its grassroots structures.

Its mobilisation is expected to draw on concerns affecting communities in the region, including insecurity, agricultural livelihoods, infrastructure, education, healthcare and access to economic opportunities.

The North-West push comes as political groups begin building support bases ahead of the 2027 presidential election. For Hashim’s movement, the immediate challenge will be turning its stated regional target into an organised electoral operation capable of reaching voters across the seven states.
