The Allied Peoples Movement has inaugurated a caretaker committee in Bauchi State, charging its members to reconcile aggrieved members and organise conventions to produce substantive leadership at the state and local government levels.

The committee was inaugurated on Tuesday at the Bauchi State Government House, Bauchi, with the State Governor, Bala Mohammed, represented by his deputy, Auwal Jatau.

Speaking at the event, Mohammed described the inauguration as a significant milestone in the political development of the party and the state, urging the committee members to prioritise unity, transparency and collective responsibility.

He said, “Today marks a critical milestone in the political landscape of a great party and our state. The formation of this committee is a testament to the resilience, adaptability and enduring spirit of our democratic process.”

The governor charged the committee members to see their appointments as a responsibility to serve the party and its members rather than an opportunity to pursue personal interests.

“Your appointment is not just a title; it is a call to service. Let it be a call to reconciliation where necessary. You have been chosen to strategically chart a course that will unite all areas and bring people together.

“Let us build a formidable structure that reflects the true aspirations of our people,” he added.

Mohammed also urged the committee to promote transparency and demonstrate commitment to the progress of the state, stressing that the party’s collective interest must take precedence over individual ambitions.

He assured the party of the state government’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for political activities and constructive engagement.

“Our doors and minds remain open to ideas, partnerships and collaborations that will deliver the dividends of democracy to the grassroots,” the governor said.

He congratulated the caretaker committee members and urged them to discharge their responsibilities with wisdom, integrity and a shared sense of purpose.

Earlier, the newly inaugurated caretaker AM Chairman in the state, Shehu Adaji, thanked the party’s National Working Committee for the confidence reposed in the committee.

Adaji, who spoke on behalf of other members, pledged that the committee would justify the confidence through loyalty, discipline, transparency and dedicated service.

He also appreciated the party’s national leadership and the party’s national leader, Mohammed, for their support towards strengthening the party’s structure in the state.

The chairman acknowledged the contributions of local government and ward executives, describing them as the backbone of the party’s grassroots structure, among others.
