A day after the Bengaluru Police Commissioner alleged that the ‘sting’ video was exchanged at his residence in Delhi, Union Minister for Industries H.D. Kumaraswamy on Monday, in turn, accused Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar of having met and conspired with the accused in the distribution of sleaze videos pertaining to former Hassan Member of Parliament Prajwal Revanna.
Displaying a Call Detail Record (CDR) document, Mr. Kumaraswamy claimed that Karthik, the second accused in the distribution of sleaze CDs related to Prajwal Revanna in Hassan, had links with the Chief Minister. “Prajwal Revanna’s former driver Karthik visited the residence of Mr. Shivakumar, then Deputy Chief Minister, on August 5 and August 6. I have documents to prove this. Both of them were responsible for the distribution of the CDs. The Chief Minister, who makes allegations against me, should respond. Congress leaders used Mr. Revanna’s issue to destroy our family and prevent the Janata Dal (Secular)-BJP alliance. Without masking the faces of women, the CDs were released,” he said.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) that probed the alleged sex crimes involving Prajwal Revanna also investigated the case pertaining to the leak of the explicit videos. The SIT filed a 13,712-page chargesheet against 39 persons for leaking the videos earlier this year. Naveen Gowda was named the prime accused and Prajwal’s former driver Karthik as accused No. 2. No politicians have been named in the chargesheet.
He asked: “How many women have complained in Hassan? How many women have got justice? The then Chief Minister (Siddaramaiah) and the Deputy Chief Minister conspired against us. Even (Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha) Rahul Gandhi and (Congress General Secretary in-charge of Karnataka) Randeep Surjewala were involved in the conspiracy. What does it show that Mr. Shivakumar met the accused who distributed the CDs?”
