Counting of votes in 577 Zilla and 7,707 Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies began at 8 a.m. on Saturday (November 7, 2026) amidst tight security. Arrangements for the counting were made at 365 centres.
About 19,885 police officers of various capacities were deployed to ensure security keeping in view the likelihood of violence between cadres of the major political parties and the clashes jeopardising the counting process.
State Election Commissioner Anil Chandra Punetha and other top officials are monitoring the counting.
