The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) organised a yoga programme at RTC House, Vijayawada, on Sunday as part of the BRICS Sustainable Lifestyle Week (BSLW), being observed from November 1-7 to promote environmentally responsible and sustainable lifestyles through public outreach, citizen engagement and action-oriented initiatives.
Around 50 officers, supervisors and employees participated in the programme, which focused on the first day’s theme, “Adopt Healthy Lifestyles”. Renowned yoga instructors Tulasi Krishna and Murali Krishna demonstrated various asanas and highlighted the benefits of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being and stress management.
APSRTC Chief Medical Officer Dr. Srikantha Reddy also stressed the importance of regular exercise, yoga and a balanced diet for maintaining good health. The seven-day awareness campaign is being conducted across all 129 APSRTC depots and units, covering themes such as energy and water conservation, sustainable food practices, reducing single-use plastics and e-waste, and effective waste management.
Executive Director (Administration) K.S. Brahmananda Reddy, who is overseeing the programme, urged employees to incorporate yoga and healthy practices into their daily routines. He also thanked the yoga instructors and the Chief Medical Officer for their contributions.
A special Nodal Officer has been appointed to coordinate and monitor the week-long activities across all APSRTC units.
