Advocates across Yadgir district abstained from court proceedings and staged demonstrations to protest against the recent series of violent attacks on members of the legal fraternity.
The protest was jointly organized by the Yadgir District Bar Association along with the Shahapur and Shorapur Taluk Bar Associations.
Lawyers abstained from judicial work to demand swift action against the culprits responsible for attacking advocates in Bengaluru and killing one of them.
Under the leadership of their respective Bar Association presidents — C.S. Malipatil (Yadgir), Ramanagouda Kollur (Shahapur) and Basavaraj Anasur (Shorapur), the members submitted memorandums addressed to the Chief Minister through the local administrative authorities.
Meanwhile, the advocate community strongly condemned the rising violent attacks against lawyers across the State. The lawyers specifically highlighted the murder of advocate Manjunath and Sriram in Bengaluru and the brutal attack on advocate Venkatramana Sannaki in Gouribidanur.
Holding demonstrations across key locations, including Yadgir, Shahapur and Shorapur, the protesting advocates urged the State government to ensure immediate and effective implementation of the Karnataka Prohibition of Violence Against Advocates Act 2023 to guarantee safety for legal professionals.
