This venue is included in Good Food’s 100 Essential Restaurants list.
If you stumbled on Fiorini’s right here and now you’d be forgiven for thinking it was little more than a tin shed. But there’s a glow behind the windows here that, once you step inside, transforms into a steady hum.
It’s rustic, but refreshed, with a sense of vitality that comes courtesy of new ownership and a crack team of chefs, who in the past couple of years have reinvigorated the restaurant to make it one of the Central West’s essential bookings.
The menu? Think farm-to-table with spark, whether it’s raw local venison served with onion cups piped full of smoked eel and garlic whip or mezze maniche coated in rubbly, rust-coloured wildboar ragu. Dressings are bright, greens are just wilted, sirloin – finished with truffle mustard – has heft and chew, and the one-page wine list is a gem. Something’s clicked.
Good to know: Tiramisu, tinted green with pistachio, to finish.
