"It felt like a big wave shooting up behind me, hitting me from behind, pushing me up against the shelves," Mr Schirripa said.

"It was like a sonic boom just flashing behind me.

"A car reversed through the wall quite fast, smashed into the wall and blew everything on top of me."

CCTV from inside the store captured the moment of impact in the aisle that included snacks and confectionery.

Mr Schirripa said his family members were among those who rushed to see what caused the commotion.

"My wife and my dad were actually quite scared. They heard the boom from the other side of the shop and came running over to see what it was,"

Mr Schirripa said.

"It's going to take a couple of weeks to get repaired.

"We've only been here a month open."

The driver has been fined for "reversing further than necessary", SA Police said.
