Ukraine's Starlink defense systems are back to their normal speeds, according to the country's leadership. Elon Musk justified his decision to disrupt Starlink's service in Ukraine, saying its military violated the terms of service. CBS News national security correspondent Charlie D'Agata reports.

According to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, Ukraine violated Starlink's rules. He said it used the civilian satellite internet network for an offensive drone strike. Ukrainian officials dispute the statement. Ukraine challenged Musk’s claim that its military violated Starlink terms, arguing that commercial Starlink limits prevented medium- and long-range strike use.

Serhii Beskrestnov, a defense technology adviser to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said long-standing restrictions on the civilian system in Ukraine made such offensive use impossible.

The comments came after the disruption in the country’s satellite service. Earlier, Ukraine said drones using Starshield, the Pentagon-funded service, were back to normal speeds.

Starshield's problems occurred after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a deal to buy Russian diesel.
