EXCLUSIVE: Another day, another emerging genre filmmaker: Jordan Downey, co-writer and director of the recent Shudder buzz title The Cycle, has inked with Verve for exclusive representation in all areas.

The talk of the town recently, The Cycle stars Daredevil’s Deborah Ann Woll as a forensic anthropologist pulled into a chilling investigation when her long-estranged father’s body turns up beside two mutilated corpses—forcing her and a team of cops to confront evidence that defies science.

The horror thriller earned a Special Mention in its world premiere at Fantastic Fest and earned a striking endorsement from author Stephen King, who called it “a terrific fright flick.” It premiered on Shudder in October and is 95% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes as of today.

Downey first gained recognition for his indie medieval thriller The Head Hunter, which earned multiple festival awards, and later directed Stork, a segment of the Critics’ Choice Award-nominated horror anthology V/H/S/Beyond. His feature directorial debut — the cult horror comedy ThanksKilling, centered on a demonic turkey — was made while he was still studying film as a senior at Loyola Marymount University.

Recently, Downey wrapped production on the sci-fi survival thriller Override, starring Maria Bakalova and Frank Grillo. With Verve behind him, he’ll continue to expand his work across genres — sci-fi, fantasy, horror and more.

Downey continues to be represented by Heller Highwater Productions’ Peter Heller and attorneys Brandon Milostan and Matt Galsor at Greenberg Glusker.
