EXCLUSIVE: Thomas Lennon (Reno 911!), Emily Bett Rickards (Arrow), and Jolie Handler (Nobody Wants This) have joined the cast of Angel dramedy series Quitters.
Also new to cast are Lonzo Liggins (Yellowstone), comedian John Novosad and Denzel Papillon.
The eight-episode half-hour addiction-themed dramedy is now in production in Utah starring Craig Ferguson and Megyn Price. The series will be distributed by Angel. Craig Ferguson stars as Nick McTavers and Megyn Price stars as Liza.
In Quitters, “after Liza, an upbeat soccer mom, falls into the cycle of opioid addiction, she lands at Unplugged, an unconventional recovery center run by Nick McTavers, a former heavy-metal legend. To put her life back on track, Liza must learn to rely on an eclectic family of patients and counselors who help her navigate the long road of recovery.”
Lennon will play Brian, Liza’s husband, “caught between love for his family and the limits of what he can endure as her addiction takes hold”. Rickards will play Mallory, “a tough-talking young patient whose combative, complicated relationship with Liza unfolds over the season, as she wages her own hard fight toward recovery.” Handler will play Chloe, Liza and Brian’s teenage daughter, “whose arc turns from teenage humor to something far more raw as her mother’s addiction closes in.”
Tristan Whitman serves as director of photography, Eric Wilson as production designer, and Jayme Bohn as costume designer on the series.
The series is directed by Darrin “Fletch” Fletcher and Chet Thomas and produced through their FletChet Entertainment banner, and was written and created by Dave Parkin. Executive producers include Chet Thomas, Darrin Fletcher, Eric Handler, Chase Vergari, Ibrahim Mohammed, Dave Parkin, Edward Neumeier, Rob Gibbs, HR Brown and Alema Harrington.
“This ensemble is everything we hoped for,” said Fletch and Chet. “Every role has been cast with someone who brings real heart and humor to it, on both sides of this story — the recovery center and the families whose lives it touches. Watching it all come to life has been a joy, and we can’t wait for audiences to meet these characters.”
Lennon is represented by UTA, Artists First, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman. Rickards is represented by Alchemy Entertainment, Play Management, and IAG. Handler is represented by 3 Arts Entertainment. Liggins is represented by Love Talent Agency, Susan McCarty Agency, and Outlaw Artist Management. Novosad is represented by Comedy Works Entertainment. Papillon is represented by Love Talent Agency.
