“The End of Oak Street” is coming to a neighborhood near you. The suburban dinosaur film is set for release on HBO Max on Nov. 13.
From director David Robert Mitchell, “The End of Oak Street” premiered in theaters on Aug. 14 from Warner Bros. Pictures. The film stars Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor as Denise and Greg Platt, the parents of a family that is magically transported into a prehistoric landscape.
Armed with a baseball bat and a shotgun, the Platt family must survive the dinosaurs terrorizing their quaint 1980s neighborhood, rescue their family dog Starbuck and uncover what has happened to Oak Street. The dinosaur attacks have at least one upside, though, as running from the prehistoric beasts forces Denise and Greg to overcome their marital tension.
The film also stars Maisy Stella (“My Old Ass,” “Nashville”), Christian Convery (“Frankenstein,” “The Monkey”), Jordan Alexa Davis (“Defending Jacob,” ‘Thriller”), P.J. Byrne (“The Wolf of Wall Street,” “Babylon”) and Chris Coy (“Lanterns,” “Black Rabbit”).
The “Jurassic Park”-style romp with dinosaurs grossed $121 million during its theatrical run against its $80-92 million production budget. The film came toward the end of a blockbuster summer box office lineup, following hot on the heels of “The Odyssey” and “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”
This is Mitchell’s first feature film since 2018’s “Under the Silver Lake.” A sequel to his supernatural horror “It Follows” was announced in 2023 and filming began this summer. Mitchell wrote, directed and produced “The End of Oak Street.” J.J. Abrams, Hannah Minghella, Jon Cohen, Matt Jackson and Tommy Harper also produced.
