MS NOW is officially adding a big name from CNN to its White House team.
The cable news channel says that Paula Reid is joining as its chief White House reporter, where she “will bring her deep experience to covering the administration, serve as a key reporting voice across MS NOW’s Washington Bureau, and help drive our newsroom’s investigative and enterprise journalism,” per a memo to MS NOW staff from D.C. bureau chief Sudeep Reddy.
Reid was one of CNN’s most high-profile correspondents, covering the Justice Department, Supreme Court and other legal matters. She was also a substitute anchor on many programs. She previously worked at CBS News, where she covered the DOJ and the White House.
At MS NOW Reid will joining a White House team that includes director Scott Foster, senior White House reporter Vaughn Hillyard, and White House reporters Laura Barrón-López, Akayla Gardner, and Jake Traylor. And she joins it as the White House is in the midst of a battle with MS NOW, CNN and Politico over its coverage, having previously barred them from the grounds before a judge ordered their passes returned.
Reddy and the MS NOW executive team have been building out an entire news organization since the split from NBC News last year, and Reid hire underscores how that work is not done yet.
“Paula joins our intrepid team of White House reporters and producers who have been covering the Trump administration day in and day out since we first established a Washington Bureau,” Reddy wrote. “They have continued that work without missing a beat, even while navigating attempts to limit their ability to report from the White House. Together, Paula and the team will work to deepen our coverage of the White House and Washington and deliver the kind of authoritative, news-breaking journalism that audiences increasingly turn to MS NOW for.”
