SHAH ALAM, Oct 28 — A motorcyclist was killed after being run over by a trailer following a collision with a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle travelling in the emergency lane along Jalan Pintasan Pelabuhan Barat, Klang, near here at 9am today.

Klang Selatan police chief ACP Lim Jit Huey said the 37-year-old local man was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries. His body was taken to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang for a post-mortem.

“Preliminary investigations found that the victim is believed to have collided with the right side of the four-wheel-drive vehicle, which was travelling in the emergency lane. The impact caused him to fall into the right lane, where he was run over by a trailer travelling in the adjacent lane.

“The victim was riding alone from Klang towards the West Port. The drivers of the four-wheel-drive vehicle and the trailer were unhurt,” he said in a statement today.

Lim urged members of the public with information on the incident to assist in the investigation by contacting investigating officer Insp Mohamad Mustakin Najri at 012-5826983 or any nearby police station.

He also advised road users against using the emergency lane as a shortcut and urged them to remain vigilant, concentrate on driving and obey traffic rules to prevent similar incidents.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — Bernama
