EXCLUSIVE: Oscar nominee and action man Jeremy Renner is set to do battle with London gangs in new movie 12 Bullets from John Wick producer Thunder Road and Comcast-owned UK broadcaster Sky.

Legendary label 193 is launching international sales on the project ahead of next week’s AFM in Los Angeles.

In 12 Bullets, “a mysterious American must wage a one-man war against rival criminal gangs tearing through London’s supposedly gun-free streets while armed with a single gun. But with only twelve bullets, every shot must count.”

Sean Ellis (Anthropoid) is directing from a script written by Tim Walker. The film will be produced by Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, for Thunder Road. The film was developed by Sky and Thunder Road and will be released in UK and Ireland as a Sky Original. CAA Media Finance are representing the film’s North American rights.

The film serves as a reunion for Thunder Road and Renner, who starred in The Town and Wind River, as well as Thunder Road and 193’s Patrick Wachsberger, who represented sales for past Thunder Road films including Sicario, John Wick and The Surgeon.

“12 Bullets is exactly the kind of bold, high-concept action thriller that gets our attention,” said 193 CEO Patrick Wachsberger. “With London as its backdrop and a hero forced to make every bullet count, the film delivers a compelling premise with international appeal. Thunder Road has been an important longtime partner, and we’re excited to join forces with them again on a project that brings together everything audiences love about the genre with a fresh, distinctive edge. We look forward to introducing the film to buyers at AFM.”

Renner earned Academy Award nominations for Best Actor for his performance in The Hurt Locker and Best Supporting Actor for The Town. Other notable film credits include Arrival, Wind River, American Hustle, The Bourne Legacy, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, and Wake Up Dead Man. He is also widely recognized for his portrayal of Clint Barton/Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, and Avengers: Endgame. He currently leads the hit Taylor Sheridan series Mayor of Kingstown.

Ellis received an Academy Award nomination for his 2006 short film Cashback. He also received BAFTA nominations for Best Short Film for Voyage d’affaires and Best Film Not in the English Language for Metro Manila, which also received the Sundance Audience Award. His other credits include Anthropoid, starring Jamie Dornan and Cillian Murphy.

Wachsberger’s 193 has previously brought a number of exciting projects to market including Park Chan-wook’s The Brigands of Rattlecreek and Roshan Sethi’s upcoming The Surgeon, starring Michelle Yeoh and Martin Freeman. This market 193 will have another Renner project in the shape of survival thriller A Speck In The Sea, which we told you about earlier this week.

Renner is represented by CAA and Felker McGinnis & Ryan; Ellis by UTA and Independent Talent Group.
