EXCLUSIVE: Jack Whitehall (Malice), Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries), Oscar nominee Greg Kinnear (As Good As It Gets) and Golden Globe nominee Andie MacDowell (Four Weddings And A Funeral) are set to star in rom-com Honeymooners.

Hanway Films will be launching international sales at the AFM for filmmaker Daryl Wein’s (Something From Tiffany’s) feature which is described as “a funny intergenerational story about second chances and finding love where you least expect it”.

CAA Media Finance is on board for North American sales. The film is produced under Wein’s Explosive Pictures banner.

Due to shoot in Italy in the first quarter of 2027, the film’s synopsis reads: “Modern Londoners Freddy (Jack Whitehall) and Cleo (Nina Dobrev) have just secretly divorced, convinced they’re better off as best friends. But their amicable split takes an unexpected turn when Freddy’s parents, Marty (Greg Kinnear) and Julie (Andie MacDowell), and Cleo’s mother, Rose, surprise them with the honeymoon of their dreams in Italy. The catch? The whole family is coming along. As the family descends on an idyllic vineyard outside Rome, long-buried secrets, unexpected attractions, and increasingly tangled loyalties threaten to unravel the entire holiday.”

Daryl Wein said: “With Honeymooners, I wanted to make a romantic comedy that feels funny, heartfelt, surprising, and deeply human. It’s about the messy, unpredictable nature of love at every age, and the absurd lengths we go to hold onto it, set against the breathtaking backdrop of Italy. My hope is to give audiences a joyful cinematic escape that feels both fresh and timeless.”

Gabrielle Stewart, CEO HanWay Films said: “It is hard not to feel seduced by Daryl’s vision for Honeymooners. It combines the wit and charm of some of our beloved British rom-coms with the gloss and unadulterated joy of Hollywood comedies, set in some of the most beautiful locations in Italy. This and the brilliant multigenerational cast makes it a film for absolutely everyone.”

Jack Whitehall is represented by CAA and Independent Talent Group; Nina Dobrev is represented by CAA and Lighthouse Management + Media; Greg Kinnear is represented by CAA and Anonymous Content; Andie MacDowell is represented by Gersh and manager Risa Shapiro; Daryl Wein is represented by Dalip Sethi at Rain and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
