No matter how famous she is in Hollywood, Gadot proved her heart is still blue and white as she joined an estimated 70,000-plus Israelis living abroad who returned home to vote.
Follow us on GoogleIsrael’s own Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot, posted a video to her Instagram story on Tuesday morning showing her voting in the Israeli elections.
No matter how famous she is in Hollywood, Gadot proved her heart is still blue and white as she joined an estimated 70,000-plus Israelis living abroad who returned home to vote.
In a video from a typical-looking Israeli polling station, she said, in Hebrew, as she picked up an envelope and went into the voting booth, “That’s it. I’m exercising my right to vote, and I’m asking you all to go out and exercise your most basic, most important right, the most democratic right you have, to vote for whoever you believe in... And I hope it’s Tuesday and that it’s pa’amim ki tov [a Hebrew expression referencing the fact that in the story of the creation of the world in the Bible, it says “good” twice on the third day and Tuesday is the third day of the week in Israel, which has come to mean “a double blessing”], with God’s help, and that it will be, for all of us, only good.”
At the end, she blows a kiss to the camera. The next story is a photo showing her placing her envelope in the box.
She will also appear on the comedy show, Eretz Nehederet (Wonderful Country), on Tuesday night after the polls close.
The superstar actress lives most of the year in Los Angeles with her husband, Jaron Varsano, and their four daughters, but is originally from Rosh HaAyin.
Gal Gadot receives honorary doctorate from Bar Ilan University
She was also in the country on Monday to receive an honorary doctorate from Bar Ilan University as part of a gala celebrating the university’s 70th anniversary.
US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff also received an honorary doctorate.
As she accepted the award, JNS reported that she said, “We’ve experienced loss, fear and uncertainty here in Israel and in Jewish communities around the world. Antisemitism has always been with us, and unfortunately, it’s not going away. As an Israeli and a Jewish woman working internationally, I feel the distance between the home I know and the way we’re sometimes portrayed from the outside. No matter how far I travel, Israel’s always my home. These are my people, my family.”
Gal Gadot emphasizes importance of Israel elections
She also spoke about the importance of the elections: “In just a few hours, the polls will open for what may be the most momentous election this country has seen in years, or even ever. This is the moment when we must all show up and exercise the most powerful civic right we have: the right to vote, to vote according to our beliefs, with a sense of responsibility for the people, women and men, who call it home.”
Gadot can currently be seen in the thriller The Runner on Prime Video and will appear in the next installment of the Fast and Furious franchise, Fast Forever.
