Egypt’s private sector has captured 65% of investments following recent economic and financial reforms, as the government makes incentivising investments across all sectors a top priority, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk said.

Speaking during a meeting with the chairman and members of the Egyptian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association, Kouchouk stated the government is serious about adopting any initiative designed to enhance the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy and drive growth in a genuine partnership with the business community.

The minister noted that the country’s policies are balanced and flexible, supporting fiscal discipline and stability while encouraging economic activity. He added that maintaining financial surpluses drives the downward trajectory of both state debt and the deficit, which increases the government’s capacity for social spending.

Addressing tax policies, Kouchouk said recent tax facilitations succeeded because the proposals originated from the tax community itself, pledging that the ministry will continue its path of simplification and support.

He noted that tax revenues recorded exceptionally high growth rates over the past two years due to a broadened tax base, which generates sustainable revenues serving citizens and investors without requiring modifications to the tax rate. The ministry is also developing a real estate tax mobile application aimed at simplifying and improving services for citizens, he added.

Ayman Soliman, Chairperson of the Egyptian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association, stressed the importance of continuous communication with government bodies and the formation of joint working groups to identify challenges and develop practical legislative solutions that stimulate the investment environment and drive economic growth.

Soliman expressed appreciation for the minister’s efforts in creating a business environment that enhances trust and partnership with investors.

He added that providing incentives for real estate investment funds would enhance the position of the Egyptian Exchange and attract more long-term institutional and international capital. Financial and economic incentives remain a fundamental pillar for attracting global pension funds to the market, Soliman noted.
