PUTRAJAYA, Oct 23 — The terms of reference for a special task force investigating allegations of a “corporate mafia” will be presented to the Cabinet next week, Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said today.

He said the task force’s findings would be made public within three months of the completion of the investigation, in line with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement in Parliament earlier this week.

“The Prime Minister also informed the Cabinet that the terms of reference for the special task force that will investigate the findings related to the corporate mafia issue will be presented at next week’s Cabinet meeting,” Fahmi said at his weekly post-Cabinet press conference here.

Anwar said in Parliament on Tuesday that he had instructed a special task force led by the Attorney General to finalise its investigation and publicly disclose its findings within three months.

The investigation follows allegations of a purported “corporate mafia” reported by Bloomberg, which cited dozens of unnamed sources, including individuals purported to be serving Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and police officers.

The reports alleged that a group had plotted hostile takeovers of companies linked to projects awarded through government tenders.
