KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 — The National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) will discuss with the Home Ministry (KDN) a proposal to seek funding from the Finance Ministry for the procurement of body cameras for its enforcement officers.

Its director-general Datuk Ruslin Jusoh said the move followed a recommendation by the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) for KDN to prioritise the provision of body cameras for AADK officers conducting field operations.

In a statement today, he said AADK remained committed to ensuring that all enforcement operations were conducted responsibly, transparently and in compliance with the law and human rights, in the interest of public safety and order.

He added that the agency would improve its risk assessment guidelines for operations and ensure that enforcement officers complied with logbook requirements without exception.

AADK would also take follow-up action, including disciplinary measures against officers found to have been negligent or to have breached standard operating procedures (SOPs) during an enforcement operation in Bera, Pahang, on October 13 last year.

Yesterday, the EAIC recommended that KDN prioritise the provision of body cameras for AADK enforcement personnel following an incident during an operation to locate a suspected individual in Bera last year.

The commission said its investigation found negligence in the tactical handling of the raid and non-compliance with SOPs by the Bera AADK operations team, which triggered panic and a scuffle that resulted in injuries to a member of the public or a third party at the scene. — Bernama
