ISTANBUL, Nov 8 — Differences in political views and positions among parties in the Unity Government have not affected the smooth administration of the government, said Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said the working relationship between BN and Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the government remained good, with the administration of ministries and Cabinet meetings proceeding smoothly and professionally.

“There are no problems in terms of our relationship. We manage the ministries and hold Cabinet meetings every week. Government affairs and administration are carried out professionally, and there have never been any differences of opinion or disputes over the past four years,” he told Malaysian media here at a press conference to wrap up his four-day working visit to Türkiye, which ended today.

Ahmad Zahid was asked to comment on whether the issue of a conditional pardon for former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak could affect relations between BN and PH in the Unity Government.

Elaborating,  the Deputy Prime Minister said differences in political approaches and positions among parties should be addressed maturely, particularly when political situations differ at the federal and state levels.

He cited the previous Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections, as well as the ongoing Melaka state election campaign, which highlighted differences in political approaches at the state level despite BN and PH working together in the federal government.

“In my view, political maturity in Malaysia is now at an almost optimum level, and although there are different political moves and approaches, insya-Allah, these will not affect the country’s political stability,” he said. — Bernama
