Amelia Dimoldenberg has added more theaters to her one-night-only “Chicken Shop Date” cinematic event, including in New York City and Los Angeles.
The expansion is due to unprecedented demand, with all screenings in the U.K., Ireland and Paris selling out within three hours after her initial announcement. New locations include at the IFC Center in New York City and the Regal Sherman Oaks Galleria in Los Angeles, as well as added screenings in London, Cardiff, Glasgow and more. As Variety reported last week, Dimoldenberg is showing the entire final series of “Chicken Shop Date” on Nov. 24 at select cinemas in collaboration with YouTube’s Cine Club. All six episodes of the final series — which so far includes interviews with Oasis’ Noel Gallagher, Role Model and Jorja Smith — will be screened together in one “cinematic experience,” per a press release, featuring exclusive new material. The screening will culminate with the final unreleased episode, giving fans a chance to see it before it drops on YouTube Nov. 27.
The “Chicken Shop Date” film will also “offer a personal look behind the series, exploring Amelia’s relationship with the show and her decision to bring it to an end,” the release states. “Moving between comedy, nostalgia and candid reflection, the film is both a celebration of everything ‘Chicken Shop Date’ has become and a fitting farewell to one of the internet’s most recognizable formats.”
The public screenings will be preceded by invite-only premieres in London on Nov. 16 and New York City on Nov. 17, where Dimoldenberg will also participate in Q&As.
