President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on Wednesday awarded student Mayar Othman the Second-Class Medal of Excellence after she secured first place and was named champion of the 2026 Arab Reading Challenge in its 10th edition, held in Dubai.

Al-Sisi received Othman in the presence of Minister of Education Mohamed Abdel Latif and her parents, congratulating her and her family on the achievement and encouraging her to continue her studies and maintain her interest in the Arabic language.

The presidency said Al-Sisi underscored the government’s commitment to improving Arabic-language teaching in schools and recognising outstanding and talented students.

During the meeting, Othman recited a line of poetry and expressed her appreciation for the recognition, saying it would encourage her to continue striving for academic excellence.

Othman won first place in the 10th edition of the Arab Reading Challenge, whose final competition was held in the United Arab Emirates this year.
