A Sense of Home, the nonprofit working to prevent homelessness by creating homes and community for youth aging out of foster care, will celebrate co-founders Georgie Smith and Melissa Goddard at its upcoming gala.

The Legacy of Home Gala is scheduled for Nov. 12 at Los Angeles’ Radford Studios, and will toast Smith and Goddard’s work as they step back from day-to-day operations in 2027, with CEO Rachel Stich set to lead the organization.

“It is a privilege to honor our founders Georgie and Melissa, whose vision has guided our mission of preventing homelessness for foster youth over the past 11 years,” Stich said in a statement. “With the expansion of this critical work in Los Angeles and our recent launch in New York City, we are poised to bring our innovative, community-driven model to even more youth and families who need it most. As I steward A Sense of Home into this exciting new chapter, Georgie and Melissa’s vision and legacy will remain our guiding light.”

The annual event helps A Sense of Home expand its mission of supporting foster youth and their children in Los Angeles, as the organization also continues to grow. In response to the 2025 L.A. wildfires, the organization adapted its home creation model to help 1,000 families who had lost their homes, providing furnishings and household goods through its Disaster Recovery Program.

And earlier this year, ASOH launched its New York City chapter along with its inaugural New York Gala, co-chaired by Serena and Shawn Levy, as the couple said in a statement, “Georgie and Melissa are the heart of A Sense of Home. They saw a need no one was meeting and simply refused to look away. They have given so much of themselves to make that vision real. Thousands of young people have walked into a home of their own because of them. We can’t think of two people more deserving of this honor.”

The November event — where The Morning Show star Karen Pittman will serve as emcee — will also recognize ASOH board member Drew Scott (of Property Brothers) and ASOH program recipient Regina Brodell with the inaugural Founders Awards, for their dedication to the organization’s mission and the foster care community.

“Having seen firsthand how a single 90-minute home creation can change the course of a former foster youth’s life, I understand the profound impact a stable home and a caring community can have in preventing homelessness,” said Scott. “It’s an honor to be recognized alongside Georgie and Melissa, and I’m proud to support A Sense of Home’s mission to help more youth and families build a foundation for a hopeful future.”

Host committee members for the gala include Jennifer Garner, Tobey Maguire, Jena King and Michael Rosenfeld, Charlotte and Gary Gilbert, Katie and Mark Duplass, Molly Sims and Scott Stuber, Sara Gilbert, Soleil Moon Frye, Dax Dasilva, Natalia and Peter Safran, Lisa McRee and Don Granger, Irena and Mike Medavoy, Kat Samick, Rosanna Arquette, Sharon Lawrence, Dominic Perella, Kristin Hahn, Alexandra Trustman, Sienna Lee, Ivette Rodriguez, Linda Scott, Jackie Michele Johnson and Ben Sheehan, Susie and John Sheinberg, Lyndie Benson, Melinda Maria, Peggy North, Alecia Townsend, Bianca Lawson, Vicki and Max Kennedy, Britt and Harvey Mason Jr., Melissa Palmer and Kerri Borsuk, Beth Hubbard, Jill Janger, Tara Rudes Dann and Holly Wiersma.
