Downloading a file and converting a file are separate operations. A direct media URL points to a file such as an MP4. A social platform URL usually points to a web page that contains a player.

If you created the video, start with the original project or the platform's official export tools. Those options may preserve better quality and include additional account data. Availability can depend on the platform, the creator's settings and your account.

Allnira's direct download tools accept HTTPS file addresses. Some hosts prevent other websites from reading their files. In that case, opening the original address may work even when a browser-based save fails. Private links can also expire or require a login.

Social video extraction requires a connected media provider. A preview or thumbnail does not mean that a downloadable video is available. Allnira displays the connection state before you request a file.

Once you have a video file you are allowed to use, you can convert it locally. The WebM tool records the browser-decoded video into a new file. It runs in real time and depends on the browser's supported codecs. Check the result for audio, duration and image quality.

Keep permission and licensing information with shared media. A public link is not, by itself, permission to reuse someone else's recording.
