Police are investigating a serious assault at a South Otago campground.
Officers were called to the campground in Charlotte Street in Balclutha at 2.25pm Sunday.
Senior Sergeant Robin Hutton said a scene guard was in place overnight and officers were now examining the scene.
"The victim was not physically injured, however is incredibly shaken," he said. "We are offering the necessary support."
Hutton said more police could be expected in the area over the next few days.
The campground declined to comment, due to the active police investigation underway.
