Two men arrested in Auckland last night after emergency services treated a woman for a gunshot injury have not been charged.

Police were informed by ambulance staff about a woman with serious injuries, including a gunshot wound to the leg, who they treated at a house on Mt Wellington Highway, Detective Inspector Craig Bolton said.

"Police attended a short time later and cleared the address."

He confirmed the woman was now in a stable condition.

He said two men seen leaving the house by the Police Eagle helicopter were taken into custody, but had since been released without charge.

"Police are following lines of enquiry into the incident, and a scene examination will take place at the property today.

"Anyone with further information about what occurred at the address can contact Police on 105 using the reference number 261028/0569."

Police said an armed scene guard would be at the property on Wednesday.
