Evening diners at a beachfront bar in one of Auckland’s affluent suburbs narrowly escaped disaster when a luxury sports car came hurtling towards them.

The crash happened outside Moretons Bar and Restaurant in St Heliers around 6.10pm.

Police are investigating after a vehicle reportedly crashed into a parked car.
