Solomon Islands Prime Minister Matthew Wale has spoken after being taken to Australia for urgent medical treatment earlier this week.
Wale did not provide details about his condition but called on Solomon Islanders yo "keep me and my family in your prayers" as he focuses on his recovery.
In a statement on Friday, Wale thanked his well-wishers, saying their prayers have been a source of strength and comfort to him and his family.
He also expressed gratitude to Solomon Islands opposition leader Manasseh Sogavare and the opposition for their prayers, goodwill, and show of support.
"At this time, I ask that you continue to keep me and my family in your prayers as I focus on my recovery," the statement read.
The prime minister was admitted to the National Referral Hospital last weekend and referred by doctors for further treatment in Australia on Wednesday night.
It is unclear when he will return to Honiara.
RNZ Pacific's attempts to contact his press secretary have remained unanswered.
