A search and rescue operating is continuing at Waihi Beach for a missing kayaker.
Sergeant Will Hamilton said police were called around 5.40pm on Tuesday after a reports a man had entered the water in a kayak earlier that day had not been seen since.
Hamilton said the search ran through the evening, with help from the Police Eagle helicopter.
The search continues for both the man and the kayak, he said.
The single-seat, sit-on kayak is described as blue with a black and white camouflage pattern.
"If you have any seen the kayak, or have any other information that could assist police, please contact 105, quoting the reference number P067997461."
