Police have confirmed that a digger driver has been found dead at an address on Auckland's Stanley Point Road.

A police spokesperson says police were called shortly before 11am that a person had been critically injured.

Hato Hone St John and Fire and Emergency also responded but the person died at the scene.

WorkSafe have been notified of the death.

RNZ understands the incident involves a digger that was being operated at a property owned by a company called Point Seventy Limited, whose sole shareholder is Berridge Spencer.

Spencer is a shareholder in Peninsular Capital, the company behind the proposed high-rise development in Devonport.
