Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has inaugurated a residential care home for older adults established by veteran Nollywood actress, Sola Sobowale, in Ibadan.
The facility, named Joseph & Esther Homes, is located in the Akobo area of the state capital.
The opening ceremony, held on Tuesday, also featured the launch of Sobowale’s book, Built From the Break.
The event attracted dignitaries, guests and Nollywood personalities, including veteran actor Adebayo Salami, Ibrahim Chatta, Femi Adebayo and Kunle Afolayan.
The event was also streamed live on Sobowale’s Instagram page.
Joseph & Esther Homes is designed to provide older adults with a safe and supportive environment where they can live independently while receiving professional care and assistance.
The facility operates under the tagline, “Live Well, Age Well, Thrive Together”, and describes itself as “A Place to Call Home”.
A video from the event showed an emotional moment when Sobowale was moved to tears during a tribute celebrating her vision, resilience and caring nature. Her daughter was seen consoling her.
