Nigerian singer. Damilola Afolabi. popularly known as L.A.X and his wife, Ella, have held their Nikkah ceremony, formalising their union under Islamic law.
The couple held the Islamic wedding on Thursday night, following their civil wedding in Malta in September.
The ceremony’s programme included an opening prayer, introduction of guests, recitation from the Holy Qur’an, thanksgiving, a naming ceremony, the Nikkah, blessings and a closing prayer, alongside donations to the mosque.
The inclusion of a naming ceremony in the programme has raised questions about its purpose, including whether it was connected to a possible conversion to Islam.
However, there is no confirmation in the available information that Ella converted to the religion.
In September, the couple announced their civil wedding on Instagram, sharing pictures from the ceremony in Malta.
“Legally hitched to the love of my life, in the most beautiful city, Malta, you have our hearts,” L.A.X wrote.
The singer proposed to Ella on January 16, 2026.
Born Damilola Afolabi, L.A.X began his musical journey as a rapper while in secondary school, where he formed a group called Flyboiz before pursuing a solo career.
He gained prominence in 2013 with Caro, a collaboration with Wizkid released under Starboy Entertainment.
Following the success of Caro, L.A.X collaborated with Wizkid again on Ginger, further establishing his presence in the Nigerian music industry.
