Vice President Kashim Shettima and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, have led party leaders and stakeholders to Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The rally, which attracted members of the party’s National Working Committee, governors and other prominent APC stakeholders, also featured the presentation of the party’s candidates for the forthcoming elections.

Yilwatda, who disclosed the development in a statement on his X handle on Thursday, described the massive turnout as a demonstration of the people’s confidence in the APC.

He said the atmosphere at the event reflected the party’s growing determination to consolidate its political position ahead of the 2027 polls.

“The excitement was palpable, the atmosphere electrifying, and the massive crowd that turned out to receive us was a powerful demonstration of the people’s enthusiasm, confidence and unwavering faith in the APC,” he said.

The APC chairman used the occasion to canvass support for Tinubu’s administration, describing the President as a performer and reformer whose policies were laying the foundation for a prosperous Nigeria.

“Our message was clear: President Tinubu is a performer, a reformer and a leader whose policies are laying the foundation for a more prosperous Nigeria,” Yilwatda stated.

He also highlighted infrastructure projects in Ekiti State, particularly the construction and rehabilitation of roads linking Ado-Ekiti to Akure, alongside other completed and ongoing projects.

According to him, the investments demonstrate the Federal Government’s commitment to improving transportation, stimulating economic activities and enhancing the living conditions of Nigerians.

On the administration’s economic policies, Yilwatda defended the ongoing tax reforms, saying they were designed to protect low-income earners and small businesses from unnecessary tax obligations.

“The ongoing tax reforms are designed to protect low-income earners and small businesses, ensuring that those who should not pay taxes are no longer burdened with unnecessary tax obligations,” he said.

He further pointed to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as one of the administration’s interventions to expand access to higher education.

Yilwatda noted that eligible students also receive a monthly upkeep allowance of N20,000 to support their educational needs.

He said the policies were aimed at expanding opportunities, empowering citizens and strengthening the country’s development prospects.

The APC chairman maintained that the reception in Ekiti demonstrated the party’s readiness and unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Ekiti has spoken through its enthusiasm. The message is unmistakable: the APC is ready, united and determined to consolidate the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he added.

The rally forms part of the APC’s political mobilisation efforts as the party prepares to present its candidates and seek renewed support ahead of the 2027 elections.
