Oyo APC unity: Ajimobi hosts Folarin, Adelabu, Buhari

Leaders of the Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress on Thursday met at the Lagos residence of Nigeria’s Ambassador to Austria, Florence Ajimobi.

The ‘strategic’ meeting, hosted by Amb Ajimobi, drew governorship aspirants for the APC in Oyo State for the 2027 elections.

They included former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu; senator representing Oyo North, Abdulfatai Buhari; and legal practitioner Akeem Agbaje.

Also at the meeting was the Oyo State Coordinator of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Teslim Folarin.

A source privy to the discussions said the meeting focused on “repositioning and strengthening the Oyo State APC through genuine reconciliation, inclusive leadership and renewed unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.”

The latest meeting joins a series of recent meetings involving Folarin and Adelabu, said to be targeted at rallying a united front behind President Bola Tinubu and the party’s candidate in Oyo State, Sharafadeen Alli.

Folarin was reported to have convened a meeting at the party’s state secretariat in Ibadan on Wednesday for the same 2027 motive.

Some of those who attended the Ibadan meeting included former deputy governor, Rauf Olaniyan; the Oyo APC chairman, Moses Adeyemo; former governor’s wife, Kemi Alao-Akala; the Special Assistant to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare; Ayo Adeseun; and Femi Lanlehin.

Others were former Minister of Youth and Sports, Taoheed Adedoja; former state APC chairman, Akin Oke; former Senate Chief Whip, Hosea Agboola; former deputy governor, Taofeek Arapaja; Brimoh Yusuf; and Fatai Ibikunle.

With the reconciliation moves, the party is set to host President Tinubu for the APC presidential campaign rally scheduled for November 21 in Ibadan, the state capital.
