Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is expected to be out for about three weeks after undergoing successful knee surgery, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The Turkish champions said the operation was performed on Saturday at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital by club doctor Yener İnce.

The 27-year-old sustained a sprain in his left knee in the Champions League game against VfB Stuttgart on Tuesday, and an MRI scan later revealed a free fragment in the joint, which made surgery necessary.

“Our player Victor Osimhen underwent successful surgery today at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital, performed by our club doctor, Yener İnce,” the club said in a statement.

“Our player’s condition will be monitored through daily assessments, and his treatment will continue under the supervision of our club’s medical team.

“We wish our player Victor Osimhen a speedy recovery and hope he gets well as soon as possible.”

Turkish daily Fanatik reports that Osimhen will miss the league games against Amedspor and Samsunspor, and could return against Aston Villa on November 24 if his rehabilitation goes to plan.

The injury ruled him out of Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Tanzania, a blow to coach Éric Chelle, who had hoped to have the former African Footballer of the Year available.
