The Ogun State House of Representative member representing Yewa North/Imeko-Afon federal constituency, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, and other members of border communities during the engagement.
The member representing Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, has said his constituency projects have impacted all 21 wards, with plans to extend physical projects to the only ward yet to benefit before the end of next year.
Isiaka disclosed this on Friday during a stakeholders’ engagement and public presentation of The Living Borders, his 150-page development agenda for the constituency, held at Comprehensive High School, Ayetoro, Ogun State.
The lawmaker, who used the occasion to account for his four-year stewardship, said his interventions covered critical sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, skills acquisition, empowerment and employment.
He listed some of the projects to include the construction of a mini stadium and a police station in Oja-Odan, provision of boreholes in six communities, including Ayetoro, Iboro and Imasayi, and the installation of 1,200 solar-powered streetlights across the constituency.
Other interventions, according to him, include the ongoing construction of a Computer-Based Test centre, which he said was 95 per cent complete, construction of classroom blocks, distribution of 1,200 school bags and renovation and equipping of primary healthcare centres.
Isiaka said the spread of the projects reflected his commitment to equitable representation across the constituency, adding that the outstanding ward would also receive a physical project before the end of 2027.
“I want to thank you for allowing us to serve, for standing by us, believing in us and for all your prayers that have brought us this far,” he told the gathering.
Explaining the rationale behind The Living Borders, Isiaka said the document was conceived as a development blueprint to identify the constituency’s economic opportunities, address its immediate challenges and provide a framework for sustainable growth.
He described his approach as “development-focused representation”, stressing that effective representation required deliberate planning and a clear understanding of the community’s long-term prospects.
“We know that we cannot do development without a plan. We need a strong development plan, development agenda or development guide. What we have done is to look at all the advantages and benefits available to us and bring them together as a guide for everyone,” he said.
He added that development must address present needs while safeguarding the prospects of future generations.
“Developing is when you have the best of the day without compromising what the future will be like. That is exactly what we are trying to do and what we are aiming for,” he said.
The lawmaker also identified the constituency’s proximity to the Republic of Benin as an economic advantage that required deliberate government attention. He advocated establishing a free trade zone to unlock the commercial potential of the border communities and create opportunities for residents.
He equally called for the establishment of tertiary institutions in Imeko-Afon and Yewa North, saying improved access to higher education would strengthen human capital development and expand opportunities for young people.
The gathering was attended by former and serving lawmakers, traditional rulers, Baales, All Progressives Congress chieftains, religious leaders, artisans, traders and youths, among others.
On the 2027 general election, Isiaka expressed confidence in his re-election prospects, urging constituents to support the APC and its candidates, including President Bola Tinubu, Ogun State governorship hopeful, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, and other party candidates.
He said continued support for the party would enable the consolidation of ongoing reforms and development initiatives.
